Chevrolet Beat : Best Looking Hatchback in its Segment
"Chevrolet Beat" - True Value for Money Hatchback
Chevrolet Beat is another major launch by GM India after the recent launch of Cruze which has been recieved very well by Indian Customers. The super value for money pricing means that the new Beat is almost Rs 60,000 cheaper than its 1.2 Litre competition. Even the top end ABS and Airbags version is cheaper than Rs 45,000 when compared to the likes of Maruti Ritzand Hyundai i10.
The Beat concept was designed and built leveraging GM’s Global Product Development process, created from best practices around the world that integrate design, engineering, powertrain and manufacturing organizations to ensure each vehicle program meets its quality, timing and businesstargets, yet is responsive to the needs in regional markets.
The production model of Chevrolet Beat carries the spirit of the expressive Beat concept, offering compact, city-friendly dimensions and a small-displacement engine that delivers excellent fuel economy. Chevrolet Beat adds further depth and breadth to Chevrolet’s global lineup, which is sold in more than 90 countries, giving the brand a leadership position in the segment – the fastest-growing automotive segment in many regions around the world.
Engine Of Chevrolet Beat
Chevrolet Beat is powered by a 1.2 litre 4 cylinder engine which will generate 79 Bhp of maximum power at 6200 rpm with 108 Nm of maximum torque at 4400 rpm. The S-TEC II engine employs PDA (Port De-Activation) system which “ensures high exhaust gas recirculation, resulting in combustion stability at low speeds and optimal performance at high speeds together with improved fuel efficiency.” The PDA system also reduces emissions.
An automatic temperature controller inside the engine is another unique feature which uses a dome-type long-skirt cylinder block narrowing the space between intake valves while the application of four resonators reduces engine noise. It is mated with the efficient S-TEC-II engine is a 5-speed manual transmission.
Design & Style Of Chevrolet Beat
Chevrolet Beat is a car that is ideal for those with an urban lifestyle. With the styling of a sporty hatchback, it showcases the new direction of GM design and a new trend in the design of mini-cars. Beat’s roomy proportions and dynamic styling are courtesy of its segment-leading length of 3640mm, height of 1520mm, wheelbase of 2375mm, and width of 1595mm combined with its “body-in/wheels-out” stance.
Chevrolet Beat's dramatically sized headlamps that literally stretch from the front fascia to the back of the hood, with clear polycarbonate lenses and chrome-coated bezels, resemble diamonds, adding an upscale appearance and glamour. A window line that is slanted dynamically upward, an arching roofline and sharp sidelines bring a sporty yet edgy look, a rarity in the segment. Secret vertical rear door handles located in the C-pillar are another unusual feature. They give Beat a unique, sporty three-door coupe appearance without sacrificing five-door utility.
A first-in-segment offering of an integrated rear spoiler in Chevrolet Beat comes as standard equipment essentially extends the rear roofline, for enhanced aerodynamic performance and provides a stable stance in high-speed driving as well as increased fuel efficiency. Round taillamps of Chevrolet Beat with clear polycarbonate lenses add to the Beat’s strong rear impression. A chrome-coated radiator grille and fog lamps, outside mirrors with two-tone color, and a refined-looking roof rack are other design cues that transport the Beats’s styling beyond that of a mini car.
Interiors & Comfort Features Of Chevrolet Beat
The flowing interior of Chevrolet Beat weaves together the instrument panel, front seats and door trims, creating an environment that is harmonious, uninterrupted and inviting to the senses. An exterior-color-matched instrument panel and door trim will be offered in red, blue or silver which enhances the unified design of the interior and exterior.
The interior of Chevrolet Beat is functionality dedicated and the most striking design element is a motorcycle-inspired dynamic meter cluster. The refined interior provides also upgraded functionality with features such as headrests that can be vertically adjusted up to 65 mm, carbon film-heated seats and various storage places. Pattern-printed semi-bucket seats of Chevrolet Beat provide a stable feeling when cornering. With high-quality materials and exceptional craftsmanship, they also enhance the luxurious interior atmosphere.
Ride Quality & Handling Of Chevrolet Beat
The ride and handling of Chevrolet Beat also set it apart from any other vehicle in its segment. Adopting the body-frame integral (BFI) system, the upper body structure and frame are engineered as a single unit, resulting in better feel of the road along with a heightened sense of firmness and stability, and enhanced connectivity between the driver and vehicle.
A McPherson strut front suspension of Chevrolet Beat combined with a four-point mounted long engine cradle and a width power reduction spring enhances the solidity of the entire chassis, for improved crash safety and driving performance. A rear compound crank torsion beam incorporates a tubular V-beam for more effective tuning anddynamic performance.
Chevrolet Beat features first-in-segment triple acoustic absorbent structure and special underbody structure prevent noise inflow from outside, for optimal quietness. Wind noise is minimized through the Beat’s aerodynamic body line and detailed door sealing structure.
Price Of Chevrolet Beat
Chevrolet India has priced the Beat very compitively as the base variant is available for Rs. 3.35 lakhs. Variant wise price of Chevrolet Beat:
- Chevrolet Beat PS - Rs. 3,35,000.00
- Chevrolet Beat LS - Rs. 3,55,000.00

The Vento... Sedan version of Volkswagen Polo

After the launch of New Polo Hatchback in Indian Market Volkswagen has launched the sedan variant of New Polo to compete with the likes of Swift Dzire, Hyundai Verna & Fiat Linea. Outside India, Polo has a sedan variant called the Volkswagen Polo Classic, but for India Volkswagen has christened the Polo saloon as "Vento". Production bases of the current Polo Classic are located in Brazil, South Africa and China. Australia receives the Polo Classic from the base in China, and the model is the first right hand drive Chinese-manufactured car to be exported to a “developed country”.
The Vento, which means wind in both Italian and Portuguese, follows the VW tradition of naming its models after prominent winds. VW certainly hopes the Vento badge clicks in India, in fact, India is one of the most important markets for the Vento and the German company hopes to sell 25,000 units every year once production is in full swing.
Press Release - Volkswagen Vento Prices Revealed
The prices of the Volkswagen Vento are as under:
Volkswagen Vento 1.6 Trendline Petrol --- Rs 6.99 lakh
Volkswagen Vento 1.6 Highline Petrol ----- Rs 8.23 lakh

Design & Styling of Volkswagen Vento
The front design of Volkswagen Vento is more or less same like the hatchback version like Tata has done with Indica/Indigo and Maruti Suzuki has done with Swift/Swift Dzire. The Vento is essentially the saloon version of the recently launched Polo and it shares a common platform with the hatchback. Both the saloon and the hatch are similar upto the B-pillar, except for a different grille and lights to differentiate it from its hatchback sibling. The Vento’s rear section or third box is well integrated with the body. The typically Volkswagen grille and stunning headlights only add to the appeal. All in all Vento looks awesome from almost all angles. The squarish tail lamps may not be very new in design but looks very good and suits the overall stance of Volkswagen Vento.
Interiors of Volkswagen Vento
The VW engineers were aware that the Polo’s rear seat would be inadequate for saloon car customers and hence the wheelbase has been extended by an estimated 50mm for better legroom. Headroom too is better as the roof doesn’t taper down as sharply as in the hatch. Using the Honda City as the Vento’s benchmark, VW engineers hint at best-in-class comfort with the use of special seat cushions to withstand prolonged use without compromising comfort. Boot space is in the region of 500 litres with a split seat option on offer.
The top model (Highline) of Volkswagen Vento comes fully loaded with following features:
- Power Steering, Power Windows, Remote Central Locking System
- CD MP3 Player with 4 speakers, Electrically adjustable outside mirrors
- Climatronic automatic air conditioning with rear AC vents
- Multi function info display including door opening warning
- Height adjustable driving seats plus steering wheel adjustment for reach and rake.
- Dual SRS Airbags, ABS with EBD, Anti Theft System, Electronic Immobilizer

- Candy white
- Flash red
While the highline variant is available in 4 shades:
- Shadow blue
- Reflex Silver
- Deep black
- Terra Beige

Tata Safari... Best Indian SUV.. ??
The SUV was first released in 1998 with a 1.9-litre Turbo Diesel engine.
The Safari was extensively modified in August 2005, which included the addition of a new 3-litre DiCOR engine along with modified interiors and exteriors. This 3-litre engine is the first diesel engine from Tata Motors with common rail technology. A 2-litre petrol engine was also added to the range that same year. It was this modified version that won the Motor Forum's Car of the Year for 2007, in the SUV category. Voted by the users, it beat out rivals such as the Toyota RAV 4, Land Rover Freelander and Honda CRV.
When the Tata Safari initially hit the market it was taken as a symbolic representation of adventure and freedom. With the passage of time however many foreign manufacturers released their own versions of the utility vehicle into the Indian market with the result that the Tata Safari fell out of fashion. To match up to the raised standards set by the foreign companies Tata reintroduced an enhanced version of the Safari known as the Safari DiCOR (Direct Injection CommonRail Diesel).
In October 2007 Tata unveiled the 2.2-litre Safari DiCOR which had an increased power output of 143 PS (105 KW). But it was shortly replaced by the more advanced DiCOR 2.2 vtt (Variable Turbine Technology) engine which had a power output of 140 PS (103 kW) at 4000 rpm and a torque output of 320 N·m (236 ft·lbf) at 1700 rpm. It is widely regarded as the best engine used by Tata motors.
Safari is packed with following comfort and safety features:
- Dual tone exteriors in selected shades.
- Leather cum fabric upholstery.
- Reverse guide system with camera in rear bumper.
- ABS with EBD.
- Turn indicators on outer rear view mirrors.
- Alloy wheels.
- Available in both 4×2 and 4×4 versions.
- Power Windows.
- Power Steering.
- Remote Central Locking.
- Tubeless Tyres.
- Rear Wiper with Washer.
- Rear Defogger.
- Tiltable & Collapsible Steering Column.
Tata recently launched a new variant of safari called safari GX. The new Safari GX sits just below current top end variant Safari VX. Safari Gx gets dual tone exteriors, unique leather cum fabric upholstery, Reverse Guide System using a camera in the rear bumper and the Internal Rearview Mirror as the Screen. Another new feature is indicators on the Outer Rear View Mirrors.
Safari GX has been launched at a price of Rs. 9.95 lakhs for the 4×2 version and 10.87 lakhs for the 4×4 version. The price of the Safari DiCOR range starts at Rs.7.67 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
The safari is an excellent SUV, it always had image and road prescence going for it, it has a spacious cabin, which can comfortably seat 7 and loads of luggage. You can keep cruising all day long without much feeling too tired, build quality is also steadily improving, but still suffers from a few rough edges. If one is looking for a comfortable SUV that is able to do the highway and town circuit quite well, then safari is the best option..

Design & Styling of Volkswagen New Polo
New Polo has some stunning design details, particularly the headlights and tail lights. The exterior surface got a lot of added attention but underneath well, quite a lot got taken away. No other car in this class has such a mature and high-end image as the New Polo. It may not have the flair of the Grande Punto or the futuristic shape of the Jazz but it looks every bit a Volkswagen with its strong haunches and solid look. The squarish tail lamps may not be very new in design but looks very good and suits the overall stance of Volkswagen Polo. Same is with headlamps which have a black outlining like we have seen in the Ford Fiesta. Volkswagen New Polo is the best in terms of looks and styling in comparison to other B+ segemnt cars which consists of Skoda Fabia, Honda Jazz, Ford Figo, Hyundai i20, Tata Indica Vista and Maruti Suzuki Ritz. Only Fiat Grande Punto is the car which looks better than the Volkswagen New Polo
